The Morgan Jazz Mouthpieces are handcrafted the “Vintage” way. Ralph Morgan started the company with the purpose of bringing back the lost art and science of truly handcrafted mouthpieces. Our materials, tools, and process of making mouthpieces are identical to the manufacturers of the 1940s and 1950s. We start with our 100% pure rubber formula; we mold and cure our mouthpieces to our exact specifications. No machines are used in the cutting and shaping of our mouthpieces. We cut our facings and shape the chambers and baffles all by hand. Our craftsmen are among the most experienced in the world with 80+ years' experience among the three of them.

As a professional saxophonist this has been my go to mouthpiece for 8 years. It's so incredibly versatile! You can get a fair amount of edge out of this mouthpiece whilst retaining a silky smooth core. You can also play mellow if need be. I have tried dozens of other mouthpiece brands but this one comes out on top. Add to that the amazing consistency and customer service and you've got a clear winner!
From the first notes I played on the mouthpiece I was having fun, which is important to me! Great response, flexible but intonation is good, and very "alto-y" sounding. It helps me thicken up the upper register a bit.
I am a professional of 35 years. I just acquired a vintage Morgan 7M alto. Holy cow. I play all four horns (S, A, T, B) and have owned probably hundreds of pieces over the years. I have been able to find my voice on a number of Tenor and Bari pieces, but alto and soprano are more of a challenge to find a good, full blowing piece that can respond from a whisper to a shout - with a nice, warm core and higher overtones that can be driven to a scream if necessary. This is what a pro needs to tackle everything from jazz to pop to funk and rock.
This mouthpiece does it. Holy cow, does it do it. My lip is sore b/c I couldn't put it down. It worked equally well with a Mk VI, Radio Improved and Yammie 62. I will say - this is a VINTAGE piece, before the logo was stamped on the back. "7 M Morgan" and some other things I can't read are hand-scrawled across the shank, including what appears to be a treble clef.
All I can say is, if he's making them the same way now, don't hesitate - it's a HELL of a piece, and I have good Links, Meyers, Bergs, Lambersons etc.
Thanks, Ralph! By the way, we spoke probably 25 years ago when I was referred to you by Wil. Your work is SUPERB. God bless.
Easy to blow and sweet tone!
I've been playing an alto 7M for over 10 yrs now. I've played many pieces over the past 40 years and this is by far the best. Extremely flexible, very controllable, very responsive with a great altisimo. Works best for me with a 2.5 read.
