The Morgan Jazz Indiana Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece was inspired by the early Babbitt-made Otto Link mouthpieces produced in Indiana shortly after Babbitt acquired Otto Link. Designed around the tonal character of those sought-after vintage mouthpieces, the Morgan Indiana combines a large, open round chamber with a flat “clam shell” style baffle.
The result is a warm, rich tenor sound with a strong core, while the baffle adds the power, edge and projection needed for contemporary playing. The Indiana responds freely throughout the range with a strong upper register and easy altissimo response.
Like most of our handcrafted Morgan models, the Indiana is made from Morgan’s proprietary hard rubber formulation. The facing curve, rails, chamber and baffle are individually shaped and finished by hand using traditional mouthpiece-making techniques.

Most Popular: 7 (.095") — Our best-selling Jazz Tenor Indiana size and an excellent starting point for players looking for a balance of response, flexibility, projection and tonal depth.
If you're unsure which size to choose, the 7 (.095") is our most popular choice and a great place to start.
Jazz Indiana or Excalibur Indiana?
Both models are inspired by early Babbitt-era Otto Link mouthpieces made in Indiana, but they offer different playing experiences.
The Jazz Tenor Indiana uses Morgan’s traditional, wider hard-rubber body for players who prefer the feel of a classic tenor jazz mouthpiece. Its large round chamber and flat, clam-shell style baffle produce a dark, rich and centered tone with plenty of power and edge when needed.
The Excalibur Tenor Indiana uses Morgan’s slender, streamlined Excalibur body, similar in size and embouchure feel to a metal mouthpiece. It retains the large-chamber Indiana concept while offering a more compact feel and a bit more focus and brilliance.
If you prefer a traditional hard-rubber body and fuller mouthpiece feel, choose the Jazz Indiana. If you prefer a slimmer, metal-like body with additional focus and edge, consider the Excalibur Indiana.

Handcrafted the Morgan Way
Ralph Morgan founded Morgan Mouthpieces with the goal of preserving the art and science of the traditionally handcrafted mouthpiece. The materials, tools and techniques used in our handcrafted models reflect the mouthpiece-making traditions of the great vintage mouthpieces that inspired Ralph.
The Jazz Indiana begins with Morgan’s proprietary hard rubber formulation, molded and cured to our specifications. The facing, rails, chamber and baffle are then individually shaped and finished by hand using traditional tools rather than CNC machining.
This hands-on approach has been central to Morgan Mouthpieces from the beginning and remains an important part of how our handcrafted mouthpieces are made today.

These are excellent mouthpieces with great variety to match various play styles. I had trouble getting in touch with anyone with questions during the trial, but other than that the process was very smooth.
This piece gave a strong medium-bright tone and a wide dynamic range, but was a bit more resistant than I prefer. To me, it was similar to an Otto Link.
